MLA Koonanneni Sambashirao announced the establishment of a fresh water scheme in Kothagudem, costing Rs.124.48 crores. This initiative aims to provide a long-term solution to the water scarcity issues faced by the residents. The Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other local officials were present for the foundation stone laying ceremony of the scheme.

The plan involves laying 150 km of new pipelines from Kinnerasani to Kothagudem municipality to ensure a steady supply of water. Funding will come from various sources, with 10% from the central government, 30% from the state government, and 10% from municipal funds. A treatment center at Illendu Cross will be able to treat 2.65 lakh liters of water daily as part of this scheme.

Measures are also being taken to address leaks in old pipelines during the construction process.

Efforts are also being made to improve drainage systems in key areas to prevent waterlogging.
