BRS Working President K. Taraka Rama Rao appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) at Jubilee Hills police station in connection with the ongoing phone tapping case. Following his appearance, KTR addressed the media and made strong statements regarding what he described as sustained attempts to damage his reputation through false allegations.
Speaking to reporters after his interaction with the investigating team, KTR asserted his innocence and spoke about the personal toll the case has taken on him and his family. He stated, “I say this as a matter of conscience: I have never committed any illegality or injustice. There has been relentless character assassination against me.” The BRS leader emphasized that he has maintained ethical standards throughout his political career.
The former minister detailed the nature of attacks he claims to have faced over an extended period. He alleged that deliberate attempts were made to falsely link him to drug cases and fabricate stories about alleged relationships with actresses from the film industry. KTR revealed that the impact of these allegations extended beyond him personally, stating, “My family and even my children were put through mental trauma.” He expressed concern about the systematic manner in which information has been leaked to the media.
KTR raised pointed questions about accountability for what he termed as information leaks that have damaged his reputation. He questioned who has been responsible for leaking information “like a daily serial for the last two years to assassinate my character.” The BRS Working President said he would demand answers about who is responsible for the damage to his reputation and dignity during the investigation process.
Directly addressing the question of responsibility, KTR asked whether Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was responsible for the leaks, or if police officers who allegedly leaked information should be held accountable. He also questioned the role of certain sections of the media that published the leaked information. “Is A. Revanth Reddy responsible? Are the police officers who leaked information responsible? Or the sections of the media that published it? I will ask,” KTR stated during the press meet.
