Hyderabad: K T Rama Rao, the BRS working president, encouraged Telangana NRIs to invest in their home state. He expressed confidence that the party would regain power within three years.
During Telangana Formation Day and the party’s Silver Jubilee in Dallas, USA, thousands of NRIs from different areas gathered to hear Rao speak. The event was held at Dr Pepper Arena, which holds 7,000 people, but over 5,000 NRIs couldn’t get in due to the crowd.
Rao praised Telangana as India's most successful “startup state,” highlighting its achievements under K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). He urged NRIs to excel abroad and invest back home, emphasizing Telangana’s rapid progress due to determination and hard work. Amidst loud applause, Rao recalled the 14-year struggle led by KCR that transformed Telangana into a leading state in just a decade.
He described how Telangana, once overlooked, has thrived under KCR’s leadership. Addressing issues faced by Telugu students in the US due to past policies, he promised that the BRS would support them and announced a legal cell for their protection.
Rao compared the NRIs’ dreams to a visionary’s dream in 2001 for Telangana’s four crore people. He stated the party would return to power in three years with KCR as Chief Minister again. As the BRS marks its Silver Jubilee and Telangana enters its 12th year, the party’s journey is celebrated as one of pride and self-respect, rising from challenges to success.
Upon Rao’s arrival at the Comerica Center, chants of “Jai Telangana” and “Jai KCR” echoed. NRIs eagerly greeted Rao, taking selfies despite tight security. Rao’s remark on Telugu people having three states now, including Texas as the “third Telugu state” and Dallas as “Dallasapuram,” was met with cheers, blending local and global identities.
