Hyderabad: BRS leader KT Rama Rao criticized the government and CM A Revanth Reddy for not fulfilling the promise of a farm loan waiver. He stated that the party would continue to fight until the government keeps its commitment.
Rao addressed a gathering of farmers at a protest in Chevella. The protest was against the government’s failure to waive loans up to Rs 2 lakh, among other issues. Rao reminded the crowd that during his election campaign, Reddy promised Sonia Gandhi that his first action as CM would be to waive Rs 2 lakh in farm loans. However, Reddy later went back on his promise, which Rao highlighted as a betrayal.
Rao criticized Reddy for not fulfilling the loan waiver by August 15, despite making several promises, even swearing to deities. He accused Reddy of deceiving the people and committing a serious sin by lying in the name of God.
Rao also condemned the government for disrespecting women leaders and journalists. He mentioned the humiliation of Sabitha Indra Reddy, a respected leader, who was insulted in the Assembly by the CM. He also criticized the mistreatment of two women journalists in Kondareddypalli, questioning the CM’s integrity for allowing such incidents.
The BRS leader pointed out the struggles of farmers under the Congress regime. He noted that only Rs 7,500 crore has been disbursed so far for loan waivers, which is far from the promised amount. Rao urged farmers to hold the government accountable and not to give up on the issue until the full Rs 2 lakh loan waiver is implemented.
Rao assured the farmers that his party would continue to fight for their rights and would not stop until justice is achieved. He warned Reddy that failing to deliver on his promises would lead to his downfall. He emphasized that running a government is not as easy as making promises.
Finally, Rao warned that if the government continues to fail farmers, it will face consequences in the next elections.
