Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him and his party of double standards on industrialist Gautam Adani and their treatment of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
In a letter to Rahul Gandhi, KTR pointed out the contradictions between the Congress party’s national stance and its actions in Telangana under the leadership of state Congress president Revanth Reddy. He highlighted that while Congress has been vocal against Adani and alleged corruption by the Modi government, its Telangana unit seems to have taken a different approach. “On one hand, your party claims to be fighting Gautam Adani’s alleged crony capitalism; on the other hand, your CM Revanth Reddy has rolled out the red carpet for the Adani Group,” KTR wrote.
KTR specifically criticized the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s (TPCC) ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan’ protest on December 18, which was part of the Congress’ nationwide campaign against alleged corruption involving Adani. He questioned the sincerity of the campaign, citing Revanth Reddy’s earlier actions, like facilitating significant deals for the Adani Group at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The BRS leader directly challenged Rahul Gandhi to address these inconsistencies. “Will you question your own CM on his ‘dosti’ with Adani, or will you remain silent to protect his vested interests?” KTR wrote. He dismissed the Congress’ anti-Adani campaign as a “political farce” and warned that the people of Telangana would no longer tolerate such “hypocrisy.”
KTR also accused the Congress of having double standards regarding Dr. BR Ambedkar. He alleged that while the Congress shows support for Ambedkar in Delhi for political gain, it disrespects his legacy in Hyderabad. He claimed that the Congress denied public access to the 125-foot Ambedkar statue in Hyderabad and failed to honor him on his birth and death anniversaries. “They disrespect Babasaheb on his birth and death anniversaries,” KTR said.
Through his statements, KTR emphasized what he described as glaring contradictions in the Congress party’s approach and urged people to be cautious of such behavior.
