BRS working president KT Rama Rao has responded to allegations regarding his family’s landholdings, stating that the family of former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had inherited substantial property long before KCR entered public life. The statement came on Thursday in response to claims made by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy about the family’s land acquisitions.
Describing his father’s life as “an open book”, KTR provided detailed background about the family’s ancestral wealth. He explained that KCR was born in 1954 into a landlord family in Chintamadaka, where their house itself was spread across almost two acres. The BRS leader emphasized that his father did not come from a small or modest family background.
According to Rama Rao, the family’s forefathers owned hundreds of acres of land in Chintamadaka, and these details are documented in government records. He revealed that the family’s property was originally located in Konapur, and a portion of this ancestral land was acquired by the government for the Aparmaneru project in Kamareddy during the 1930s.
The BRS working president stated that the family received compensation running into lakhs of rupees for the property acquired for the project. This compensation was used by KCR’s father to purchase land in Chintamadaka, where the family eventually settled. He clarified that the property came from the paternal side of the family and dated back to the Nizam’s era.
Rama Rao questioned the allegations by pointing out the timeline and scale of the family’s wealth. He asked whether the current landholding represented an increase or decrease compared to what the family historically owned. The BRS leader highlighted that the family’s forefathers possessed significantly larger landholdings in the past.
Addressing the present situation, KTR stated that after 72 years, the family now owns only 67 acres of land. He posed a direct question asking whether this represented a reduction or increase in wealth, suggesting that the family’s landholdings had actually decreased over the decades rather than increased through any questionable means during KCR’s political career.
