Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is gearing up for the Jubilee Hills by-election. On Sunday, the party held a meeting with local activists. KT Rama Rao, the party’s working president, encouraged them, warning that re-electing Congress could halt current welfare programs.
Rama Rao honored the late Maganti Gopinath and emphasized the importance of this election, prompted by Gopinath’s passing. He urged party members to strive for a BRS win, saying, “Raise the pink flag in Jubilee Hills to honor Gopinath garu.” He tasked each member with securing at least 100 votes or reaching out to 25 households, explaining how KCR’s leadership differs from Congress’s rule.
He sharply criticized Congress’s 20-month governance in Telangana, labeling it as “incompetent and corrupt.” He urged voters to penalize Congress for failing Telangana with broken promises and false claims.
Rao accused key Congress figures like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge of deceiving Telangana voters with fake promises. “Congress, including Revanth Reddy, betrayed the people by not delivering on their commitments,” KTR stated, adding, “This deceitful government must be ousted.”
KTR noted that several welfare initiatives ceased once Congress assumed power. He alleged that BJP and Congress are working together in Telangana. “The BJP-led central government is protecting Revanth Reddy’s corruption, which explains why Prime Minister Modi hasn’t initiated any cases against him,” KTR claimed, asserting that both parties aim to undermine the BRS.
KTR expressed anger over the destruction of poor people’s homes in Hyderabad. He argued that small shelters built by the poor on government land are demolished without mercy, while illegal structures by the wealthy are ignored. He accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other Congress leaders of building homes illegally without consequences, while homes of the poor are destroyed without notice. He mentioned an elderly woman’s suicide in Kukatpally, fearing her house would be torn down.
KTR highlighted the BRS government’s efforts to transform Hyderabad into a top metropolitan city. “Through GO 58, we provided legal ownership to over 100,000 poor families, ensuring their livelihoods. We also launched welfare schemes like Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi for girls’ marriages,” he stated.
