Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender has filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). He claims that the police in Telangana have used extreme violence against the villagers of Lagacharla in Vikarabad district. The alleged incidents occurred over the past eight days and involved both villagers and nearby tribal communities.

In a letter sent to the NHRC on Tuesday, Rajender explained that the issue began on November 11. Officials from Vikarabad district visited Lagacharla to hold a hearing about farmers’ concerns regarding the establishment of a pharma company. Lagacharla falls under the Kodangal assembly constituency, which is represented by Telangana’s Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy. According to Rajender, the villagers have been protesting for the past eight months against the forced takeover of their farmlands.

On the day of the hearing, the villagers refused to attend the meeting. Rajender mentioned that when officials approached the farmers, they might have shown their frustration. However, following this incident, the police began arresting villagers without proper cause. Rajender stated that on the night of November 11-12, the police entered the village and detained many people. He also claimed that the villagers were physically and verbally abused and subjected to violent treatment. Those arrested have allegedly faced severe torture in police custody, including harsh methods like third-degree tactics.
