The Safilguda railway gate has been closed for almost seven months, causing difficulties for the local residents. People living in colonies near the gate are asking the South-Central Railway to reopen it. The closure of the gate has added 3 kilometers to their commuting distance. The affected colonies include Balram Nagar, West Krishnanagar, Sitaram Nagar, Devi Nagar, Sainik Nagar, RK Puram village, Adarsh Nagar, Siddhartha Nagar, and LB Nagar.

Many residents have made requests to the railway officials to reopen the gate. The closure has caused hardships for around 6000 families in Safilguda and its surrounding areas. Initially, officials stated that the gate was closed to extend the station platforms for MMTS trains. They also mentioned that the gate would not be reopened in the future. The only solution given was to build a road under the railway rainwater culvert near Sitaram Nagar to reach the Safilguda gate on the other side of the track, according to a resident named Robin.
