In a move to boost digital education in rural areas, District Collector B.M. Santosh handed out 49 tablets and Bluetooth speakers to Anganwadi centres in Gattu Mandal on Thursday.
During a meeting at the IDOC Conference Hall with members from Shikshana Foundation, Bhavishya Bharat, and National Agro Foundation, the Collector praised LTI Mindtree for supporting Gattu Mandal’s development. He stressed that more attention should be given to the 39 indicators from NITI Aayog, as Gattu’s Anganwadi centres were behind in seven crucial areas.
The Collector explained that the 49 tablets will enhance technology use in Anganwadis. These devices will help with timely updates on the Poshan Tracker app. NITI Aayog’s Champions of Change program funded 12 tablets, worth ₹2.40 lakh, while LTI Mindtree provided 37 tablets and Bluetooth speakers. These tools are expected to help teachers and children with digital learning and nutrition tracking.
Lalitha R. Holla, Head of LTI Mindtree South Zone, stated that the company spent nearly ₹11 lakh on the 37 tablets and speakers as part of their CSR initiative. She also mentioned that LTI Mindtree is running the “Prerana – FLN Program” and STEM awareness programs in 23 schools in Gattu Mandal, along with digital skills training in six high schools.
Representatives from Bhavishya Bharat mentioned ongoing efforts under the Comprehensive Rural Development Project, which include improving Anganwadis, building check-dams, promoting natural farming, setting up self-help production units, providing scholarships, and organizing health camps.
National Agro Foundation highlighted their work on agriculture-based projects, watershed management, and check-dam development in the mandal.
The meeting included District Welfare Officer Sunanda, Anganwadi Supervisor Sandhya Rani, NITI Aayog Coordinator Afzal, and members from National Agro Foundation, Bhavishya Bharat, and Shikshana Foundation.
