London/Hyderabad: A Lufthansa flight heading to Hyderabad was forced to return to Frankfurt on Sunday due to a bomb threat. The threat was reported approximately two hours after the plane, Flight LH752, left Germany at 2:14 PM local time. The flight was supposed to arrive at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday, but passengers were informed that landing permission in India was not granted.
Flight LH752 took off from Germany and was set to reach Hyderabad on Monday morning. However, flight tracking data showed it diverted back after being airborne for a few hours.
A passenger, who was traveling from the US to see her mother, explained that they landed back in Frankfurt about 15 minutes before speaking. She mentioned that the passengers were being given accommodation for the night since the flight was rescheduled for Monday morning.
“It was a smooth flight until we were informed of the return to Frankfurt after two hours,” she shared. “At the airport, we are being accommodated overnight and told we will depart later on the same flight.”
Authorities in Hyderabad have not commented on the situation yet. A Frankfurt Airport spokesperson confirmed the return of LH752 and advised contacting the Federal Police or Lufthansa for more details. Lufthansa’s live tracker confirmed the plane landed back in Frankfurt around 5:30 PM local time. The aircraft is identified as a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
Earlier flight data indicated its path to Hyderabad, but this was updated to reflect the rerouted landing in Frankfurt. Flightaware.com showed similar details, though the exact reason for the diversion remains unclear.
Air Traffic Control at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport received a notification that the flight was returning shortly after its departure from Germany.
