Madhavi Latha faces charges for urging Muslim women voters to remove veil

BJP candidate K Madhavi Latha for Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat was booked by election authorities after a video surfaced. In the video, she asked burqa-clad Muslim women voters to show their faces for identity verification.

She was seen telling women voters to lift their burqas at a polling booth. A case has been registered against Madhavi Latha under relevant sections of the law.

The Hyderabad Collector confirmed the case against her and mentioned that she also instructed police to conduct thorough checks before allowing voters into polling booths.

The incident occurred during the polling for the 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana. The sections of the law she is charged under include interference with electoral rights, obstructing public servants, and inciting violence.

Madhavi Latha is contesting against AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in the Hyderabad Lok Sabha segment.
