Manish Sisodia, a leader in the Aam Aadmi Party and a former Deputy Chief Minister, has asked for bail from the Delhi High Court due to his wife’s illness. He is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for alleged fraud related to liquor policy. The court has scheduled a hearing for Sisodia’s request on May 4th. Sisodia is currently in jail because he was denied bail in March and was recently denied bail again.

Sisodia claims that there is no evidence linking him to the suspected scam and that the charges against him are possible but not proven. However, the CBI argues that Sisodia is a significant connection in the multi-layered conspiracy and has not been cooperative or forthcoming during the investigation. The CBI also claims that Sisodia has close ties with government officials and that his party members are spreading misinformation about the investigation.

The court has extended Sisodia’s custody until May 12th and ordered the CBI to provide him with an electronic copy of the supplementary charge sheet.
