Police in Kothagudem have arrested a woman named Oyem Nande, also known as Sammakka, who is a member of the CPI (Maoist) party. She was taken into custody during vehicle inspections in the Dummugudem mandal area at Sitanagaram. The police, along with CRPF soldiers and a special task force, were conducting the checks when they detained her. This information was shared by Manugur DSP V Ravindra Reddy.
Oyem Nande is from Kothaguda village, which is under the Basaguda police station in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. She was part of the Maoist Pamed area committee and a member of the Krantikari Adivasi Women’s Association (KAMS).
When she was arrested, the police found Maoist literature and leaflets in her possession. A complaint was filed against her under the Telangana Security Act, the BNS, and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Following the complaint, she was placed in judicial custody.
According to the police, Nande has been involved with the Krantikari Adivasi Women’s Association for the past 20 years. She and other Maoist members would visit tribal communities in the Pamed area, organizing meetings to encourage the tribal people to rise against the State and Central governments.
