Hyderabad: Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has urged city officials to prioritize cleaning efforts in slum areas. Her goal is to prevent seasonal diseases during the rainy season by enhancing sanitation measures.
She warned that strict actions will be taken against those who fail to dispose of waste correctly. There will be severe penalties for anyone dumping construction waste improperly in slums.
On Monday, after heavy rains, the Mayor and Zonal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi visited the slums of Ambedkar Nagar and Uday Nagar in the Jubilee Hills Circle.
The Mayor stressed the urgency of implementing safety measures to protect residents from risks due to a partially collapsed wall near the nala in Ambedkar Nagar.
Officials were instructed to quickly remove construction debris from the roads in these areas.
The Mayor also inspected a road collapse near Maheshwari Towers by Banjara Hills Road No. 1, close to a hospital. Vijayalakshmi ordered engineering teams to start repairs immediately and fast-track approval for building a 19-meter RCC slab, estimated to cost Rs 65 lakh.
Residents thanked the Mayor for her prompt action and funding for the repairs.
Chief Engineer Ratnakar, Deputy Commissioner Sammayya, and other officials joined the Mayor during her visit.
