Hyderabad is facing continuous rainfall, making life difficult for its residents. Overflowing sewage adds to the problems, with muddy roads and manholes spilling dirty water. This situation causes a strong, unpleasant smell, troubling both locals and travelers.
People in the city are upset and have asked officials to address the ongoing sewage overflow. Even though complaints have been made, the authorities are slow to respond, leaving everyone wondering about the delay in fixing these hazardous conditions.
In some areas, like Kukatpally, manholes are damaged. Addula Ravinder, a local, mentions that after cleaning, workers leave black sludge nearby, which spreads during rain. In Shaikpet’s Surya Nagar, Asif Sohail finds the incomplete drainage work particularly disruptive to daily life, as heavy rains create flood-like conditions.
Mohammed Ahmed, a social activist, points out that ongoing projects such as laying new pipelines and clearing water bodies are causing excessive sewage overflow. No part of the city, from Banjara Hills to the old city’s south zone, is spared. This slow progress damages roads, and rainwater mixed with sand poses risks to commuters.
In Srinagar Colony, Ch Anand Kumar highlights roads dug up for drainage that remain unrepaired. Rain can raise water levels to three feet, flooding homes. Complaints flood social media, with residents worried about stagnant water becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes and diseases.
One Reddit user notes the frequent overflow of drainage on roads, from Borabanda to Jubilee Hills, describing it as unhygienic and troublesome, especially for bikers getting splashed by passing vehicles. This issue has become a regular nuisance for those living in the city.
