Hyderabad: The Sammakka Sarakka Temple Committee has set the dates for the next Medaram Sammakka Sarakka Jatara. This major event will occur from January 28 to 31, 2026.
The Jatara takes place in Medaram within Mulugu district’s Tadwai mandal and is expected to draw millions from all over India. On January 28, the event kicks off with the procession of Saralamma, Govindaraju, and Pagiddidda Raju.
On January 29, Sammakka Talli will reach the Gadde from Chilakalagutta. The following day, January 30, devotees will gather to pay homage. The festival wraps up on January 31 with the Vana Pravesha program, where many will honor Sammakka, Saralamma Vanadevatalu, Govinda Raju, and Pagiddidda Raju.
Since it became a state festival in 2014, declared by the Telangana government, the Medaram Jatara has attracted people from neighboring states like Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Karnataka. Devotees come in large numbers to offer jaggery, considered as valuable as gold, to the goddess. Authorities prepare extensively to handle the vast crowds.
