The skill, knowledge, and handling of evidence by medical officers are crucial in this process. Proper collection of medical evidence is important for better prosecution and successful convictions in sexual abuse crimes. This reassures society that state agencies are serious about combating these crimes.

A workshop was conducted for doctors at the Women Safety Wing to improve their knowledge and skills in collecting and preserving forensic evidence during Medico-Legal examinations of rape and child sexual abuse victims. Eighty-five medical officers from teaching hospitals, district hospitals, and area hospitals attended the workshop. Goel stressed the need for sensitivity towards victims of crime and lauded the medical officers for their service in bringing justice to these victims through proper collection and examination of medical evidence.
