Hyderabad: The BRS meeting for BC communities in Karimnagar, originally set for August 8, has been delayed. Senior BC leaders will choose a new date after their discussion at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday.
The BRS planned this large gathering to push for 42% reservations for backward classes in local elections, aligning with the Congress party’s Kamareddy declaration.
Party members cited expected heavy rains, as predicted by the IMD, as a key reason for postponing. Bad weather would complicate logistical arrangements and deter attendees.
Another factor is the high number of weddings on August 8. With Shravana masam underway, many weddings are scheduled, and auspicious days won’t return until Navaratri and Dussehra.
