A mild earthquake shook parts of Mancherial, Nirmal, and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts in Telangana on Monday evening around 6:50 PM.
The quake measured 3.8 on the Richter scale and struck at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the surface. Though not very powerful, the tremor was strong enough for people to feel.
Residents in areas like Jannaram, Luxettipet, Kaddampeddur, Khanapur, and Goleti reported the ground shaking for about 2 to 3 seconds. Many ran outdoors in fear. Some shared that household items like utensils and crackers fell from shelves during the tremors.
Fortunately, no injuries or major damage were reported.
This isn’t the first time the region has experienced such tremors. On December 4, similar light earthquakes were felt in nearby places including Jaipur, Kasipet, Dandepalli, Bejjur, Koutala, and Wankidi.
Experts consider these minor earthquakes common in this region and say they usually don’t pose a big threat. Nonetheless, safety precautions are always encouraged during such events.
