    Hyderabad lit up on May 10 as it hosted the grand opening of the 72nd Miss World Festival at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium. This marks the third time India has welcomed the global beauty pageant and the first time ever for Telangana to host such a prestigious international event.

    Over 110 contestants from around the world arrived in the city, greeted by a vibrant celebration of Telangana's culture and traditions. Local dance forms like Perini, Kommu Koya, Lambada, and Oggu Dolu brought the stage to life, offering guests a heartfelt and colorful welcome.

    The festival opened with the powerful theme “Beauty with a Purpose,” a core value of the Miss World tradition. The event highlighted not only glamour but also social responsibility and cultural pride.

    Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy officially welcomed the international participants. Julia Morley CBE, Chair and CEO of Miss World Limited, declared the festival open with a message of unity and appreciation. “We’re honored to celebrate Miss World in Telangana—where heritage meets innovation,” she said.

    Current Miss World, Krystyna Pyszková, shared her experience and thanked the people of Telangana. “Thank you for the warm welcome,” she said. “I hope every contestant uses this platform to honor their culture and speak for their communities.”

    Adding significance to the evening, Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of Telangana’s Department of Youth Advancement, Tourism, and Culture, called it a historic moment. “This festival sends a powerful message of peace. I hope each contestant becomes a peace ambassador in her country,” he added.

    The night’s highlight was the Parade of Nations. Each contestant stepped forward with her national flag, proudly representing her homeland. The moment echoed the festival’s theme of global unity in diversity.

    Running from May 7 to May 31, the Miss World Festival promises a month of meaningful events. Highlights include:

    – A spiritual visit to Buddhavanam at Nagarjunasagar on May 12
    – A cultural walk through Charminar and Laad Bazaar on May 13
    – A royal dinner at Chowmahalla Palace, featuring a live concert
