Wanaparthy: A special event was held on Monday to honor Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. Local MLA Thudi Megha Reddy, State Sports Authority Chairman K. Shiv Sena Reddy, Additional Collector Yadayya, RDO Subramanyam, DCCB Chairman M. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, and others paid floral tributes at Ambedkar’s statue.
During the event, MLA Megha Reddy announced that the local Nalla Cheruvu lake will be renamed after Dr. Ambedkar. He also stated that places and schools currently named with caste-based terms like “Harijanwada” and “Harijan schools” will be renamed in Ambedkar’s honor. He added that plans are underway to build a grand statue of Ambedkar.
The MLA said that the true way to honor Ambedkar is by ensuring children from poor and underprivileged backgrounds receive a good education and succeed in life.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police R. Giridhar encouraged students to study up to postgraduate level. He said that following Ambedkar’s ideals is the best way to pay tribute to him.
