Nagar Kurnool lawyers boycotted their duties and protested in front of the court on Wednesday. They were condemning an attack on lawyer couple Gaddala Amrutha Rao and Kavitha by the police. This incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Janagama police station.
The protest was led by Nagar Kurnool Bar Association President Radhakrishna. The lawyers decided to boycott their court duties as a form of protest.
Radhakrishna explained that the attack happened when the lawyers went to meet the local CI, Raghupati, about a client’s case. The CI, along with his police staff, assaulted the lawyer couple inside the police station. Radhakrishna called this act heinous and unconstitutional.
He highlighted that such actions by the police send a negative message to society. Radhakrishna stressed the importance of coordination between the police and judicial departments. He warned that incidents like this could disrupt that coordination.
Radhakrishna demanded the immediate suspension of the CI, SI, and other personnel involved in the attack. He also called for departmental action against them to prevent such incidents in the future.
The protest was attended by several members of the Bar Association, including President Radhakrishna, Secretary A. Parvatha Reddy, Bandaru Rajasekhar, Brahmeshwar Rao, Babu Piers, Srinivasulu Gupta, S. Srinivasulu, Narasimhareddy, S. Arjunayya, Shyam Prasad Rao, and junior lawyers.
