The Mahalaxmi scheme was launched on Saturday, and many women in Nalgonda took advantage of the free bus travel. They gathered at bus stops as early as 1 pm to go on trips to different places. The scheme allows women with Telangana ID to travel for free up to Nagarjuna Sagar. In the beginning, women from Macherla, AP also traveled for free without showing their identity proof for the first ten days.

Women passengers expressed their happiness and thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for implementing the scheme on time. On the first day, 80% of the seats were occupied by women. However, an RTC official raised concerns about the scheme. They suggested that it should be limited to Below Poverty Line (BPL) women and questioned the need to provide free travel to government employees who already have good salaries. The official also emphasized the importance of the government promptly reimbursing the funds for the free tickets to prevent financial strain on TS RTC.
