National BC Dal President Dundra Kumaraswamy met Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Saturday and submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting critical issues concerning the welfare and socio-economic development of Backward Classes (BCs) in the state. The meeting focused on addressing long-pending concerns related to social justice, education, employment, and constitutional rights of BC communities across Telangana.
During the meeting, Mr. Kumaraswamy presented a comprehensive list of demands urging the state government to initiate appropriate policy measures. The memorandum emphasized the need for focused intervention on reservations, education, employment opportunities, and institutional reforms to uplift the BC communities. He discussed various aspects of economic empowerment and protection of constitutional rights that have remained unaddressed for an extended period.
The memorandum outlined several key demands including effective implementation of 42% reservation for BCs, statutory implementation of the BC Sub-Plan, and strengthening of the BC Finance Corporation. It also called for immediate release of pending scholarships and fee reimbursement dues, modernization of BC hostels and Gurukul institutions, and expansion of skill development programs. The document further emphasized the need for protection and promotion of traditional BC occupations and adequate representation for BCs in nominated government posts proportional to their population.
A significant proposal in the memorandum was the constitution of a quarterly review committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. This committee would be responsible for monitoring the implementation of welfare measures and reviewing the progress of BC-related schemes on a regular basis. The proposal aims to ensure accountability and timely execution of welfare programs designed for the backward classes.
Mr. Kumaraswamy highlighted that BC communities have been playing a significant role in Telangana’s social and economic development. He emphasized the necessity for the government to ensure effective implementation of welfare programs while safeguarding their constitutional rights. The memorandum represents a collective voice of BC communities seeking equitable opportunities and development across various sectors.
Yadav Sangham Secretary Manikantheswara Yadav and Venkat were also present during the meeting with the Chief Secretary. The delegation presented the memorandum as part of ongoing efforts to secure better welfare measures and developmental opportunities for backward classes in the state.
