The state government of Telangana is planning to introduce a new Tourism Policy to attract more domestic and international tourists. The policy will focus on developing several new tourist destinations across the state.
One of the major projects under consideration includes building another Zoo Park in Hyderabad. There are also plans to establish a Nature Wellness Center at Ananthagiri and a Health Hub on 1,000 acres in what is being referred to as the Fourth City.
The government is also looking into the development of the Keesaragutta temple, aiming to renovate it in the style of the famous Ramappa temple. Additionally, there are plans to start gold plating the Raja Gopuram of the Yadagirigutta temple to enhance its appeal.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to draft a new law, if needed, to form an autonomous board for the efficient management of the Yadagirigutta temple, similar to the TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams).
During a review meeting at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister discussed these tourism projects with top officials. The meeting focused on formulating separate policies for Temple Tourism, Eco Tourism, and Health Tourism in the state.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the need to promote ancient temples, historical sites, forest areas, and medical facilities in Telangana as attractive tourist destinations. He suggested exploring the possibility of setting up safaris in the Kawal and Amrabad tiger reserves, and constructing cottages for overnight stays in some of these locations.
In addition to the new zoo park in Hyderabad, the meeting also discussed the establishment of a Vanatara Wildlife Conservation Center on 3,000 acres in Jamnagar by Anant Ambani. The government aims to collaborate with industrialists and organizations to set up similar facilities in Telangana.
The state also plans to use about 200 acres of government land in the Ananthagiri region to develop health tourism by establishing a Nature Wellness Center, modeled after the Jindal Nature Cure Institute in Bangalore. Officials were instructed to consult with Jindal representatives and other reputed organizations in naturopathy to develop such centers in the state.
Lastly, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of ongoing works at the Yadagirigutta temple and requested a detailed report on the status within a week. He also approved plans to renovate the Ramalingeshwara Swamy temple at Keesaragutta, developing it as a replica of the Ramappa temple in Mulugu district.
