Hyderabad: The Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), an initiative by Niti Aayog, launched its first State chapter in Telangana on Tuesday.
The Telangana chapter of WEP, along with its logo, was unveiled during an event held in Gachibowli. BVR Subrahmanyam, CEO of Niti Aayog, attended the event as the chief guest.
During his speech, Subrahmanyam encouraged women business groups in the city to spread awareness about WEP. He urged them to reach out to women entrepreneurs in both urban and rural areas.
He also suggested that the Telangana government adopt WEP’s initiatives, such as the “Award to Reward” program, which recognizes women entrepreneurs. He emphasized the importance of promoting entrepreneurship among college students.
Subrahmanyam highlighted that WEP, launched by the Government of India in 2018, has successfully onboarded 30,000 women entrepreneurs and their groups as members. He mentioned that WEP and We Hub have been collaborating to provide support, mentorship, networking, marketing, and guidance to help women scale their businesses. This partnership is why they decided to launch the first State chapter in Telangana.
Other notable attendees at the event included Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of the Telangana IT Department, Sangita Reddy, co-chair of WEP and JMD of Apollo Hospitals Group, Anna Roy, Mission Director of WEP, and Sita Pallacholla, CEO of We Hub.
