Khammam: District Collector Anudeep Durishetty announced that there is plenty of urea available in the district. This year, farmers have received an extra 3,250 metric tonnes compared to last year.
In a talk with The Hans India on Monday, he confirmed that 2,700 metric tonnes of urea are currently stocked across the district. He assured farmers not to worry or buy more than needed.
Farmers should buy urea only as required and use it in two parts, 15 days apart, for better crop growth. The Collector told PACS to distribute urea based on real needs and to watch closely in Kallur and Tallada mandals, where demand is high.
He asked Agricultural Extension Officers to prevent long waits at distribution centers. If farmers have to wait too long or leave items to hold their place, strict action will be taken against those in charge.
Farmers should get urea within 10–15 minutes of arriving. Officials will identify those buying in bulk to ensure priority for small farmers. Any misuse of urea will face strict penalties, and daily stock updates are required for transparency.
If many farmers gather at one place, extra stocks should be moved from nearby areas to keep supplies steady. Durishetty dismissed rumors of shortages, saying some are spreading false information for their own gain.
There is no need for protests in Khammam as stocks are well-managed. Farmers are also encouraged to consider Nano Urea as an alternative option.
