The government of Odisha has decided to remove 35 toll gates that were placed on different roads by the Rural Development (RD) and Works departments. Out of these toll gates, 34 were located on Works department roads and one on RD department road.

The Works department stated in a notification issued on Saturday that the toll gates operated by the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation (OB&CC) on Works and RD department roads will be abolished. This decision was made to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and prevent traffic congestion on roads across the state.

The State Cabinet had taken this decision to abolish the OB&CC-operated toll gates during its last meeting held on September 15.
