Mild tension arose in Vattepally, Old City, when TGSPDCL officials conducted inspections on Saturday. The team was checking for power theft and meter tampering at the Guntal Shah Baba Dargah area.
Locals gathered and protested against the officials replacing electric meters without homeowners’ consent. They referred to the team as ‘Adani’s men’ and prevented them from continuing with the inspection. The team eventually left the area to avoid conflict.
The authorities clarified that the officials were not from the Adani firm and warned of legal action against those obstructing their duties. There were rumors that the Adani Group had taken over power bill collection in Old City, but these were denied by officials.
