One person arrested after police seize 1,300 kg of contaminated ginger-garlic paste

The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force East Zone Team raided an adulterated ginger-garlic paste manufacturing unit at Lalapet, Secunderabad. They caught a man and seized 1,300 kg of adulterated paste along with 20 kg of titanium dioxide and xantham gum, totaling Rs 1.70 lakh.

The accused, Neela Venakateshwarlu (54), was mixing titanium dioxide and xantham gum to make ginger-garlic paste. He had been involved in similar cases in 2019 under sections 272, 273, 420 IPC, and 52, 59 of the Food Safety Act.

The police mentioned that the accused used to supply branded ginger-garlic paste to retailers in the city. However, he started making adulterated paste using chemicals at his residence in Lalapet to make illegal money.
