Only 22 out of 148 airports in India are making profits, according to a Parliamentary panel. The panel, led by MP Sujit Kumar, stated that the civil aviation sector in India has been growing for the past two decades but has not fully benefited from the country’s economic growth and demographic advantages. The panel’s report was presented in Rajya Sabha on Friday.

The panel highlighted that India has a low number of operational airports considering its size. They stated that having only 148 operational airports is insufficient for a country of India’s magnitude.
