In Hyderabad, a significant event took place at the Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Lashkar Jatara during the Rangam ritual. Oracle Swarnalatha made a strong call for a blood sacrifice, suggesting both blessings and warnings for the state and nation.
Swarnalatha, while standing on a clay pot, called upon the goddess Mahankali. She insisted on receiving blood, expressing frustration over being ignored for years. “I demand blood. If not from a four-legged creature, then from a two-legged one. Only then will I find peace,” she stated, hinting at potential chaos if her demands were not met.
During the Bonalu festival, as devotees worshiped, Swarnalatha mentioned containing her anger. She warned of a severe epidemic and fire incidents, advising people to stay vigilant. Despite these warnings, she reassured that the goddess would protect the state and country, promising safety and blessings to true worshippers.
Swarnalatha also foresaw plenty of rain and a rich harvest for farmers this year. She encouraged devotees to make offerings called saaka, with items like lentils, jaggery, and turmeric, weekly for five weeks.
The ritual was part of a lively procession. The festival idol was paraded on an elephant, surrounded by colorful displays of Telangana’s folk culture. Pothuraju danced energetically to the Teen Maar beats. A large crowd of devotees participated, filling the streets of Lashkar with vibrant faith and joy.
