Justice Subhasis Talapatra has been sworn in as the 33rd Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court in Cuttack. The oath of office was administered by Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal at a ceremony held at the Orissa High Court premises. Justice Talapatra takes over from Justice S Muralidhar, who retired on Monday.

Justice Talapatra’s tenure as Chief Justice will be brief, as he is set to retire on October 3. His appointment was recommended by the Supreme Court collegium, which highlighted his extensive experience in dispensing justice in two high courts.

Overall, Justice Talapatra’s appointment brings a new leader to the Orissa High Court, and his brief tenure will provide an opportunity for him to make a positive impact during his time in office.
