People are rushing to banks to exchange their Rs. 2000 notes for smaller ones, after the government decided to withdraw them. However, these notes are still legal tender until September 30th.
A petrol pump in Musheerabad put up a notice saying that customers who want to pay with a Rs. 2000 note have to buy at least Rs. 500 worth of petrol. This is because the petrol pump doesn’t have enough change. The notice has become popular on social media.
On Tuesday, the exchange of Rs. 2000 notes for smaller notes began across the state.
