Politics in Secunderabad Cantonment Constituency has heated up following the death of MLA Lasya Nandita, leading to an upcoming by-election. Sreeganesh Narayanan, who previously ran as a BJP candidate and came in second during the last assembly elections in December, has now joined the Congress party. This unexpected move occurred on Tuesday night at the residence of TPCC working president Mahesh Kumar, where Ganesh was seen wearing a Congress scarf in the presence of other party leaders Mainampally Hanumantha Rao and Mahender Reddy.
Ganesh explained that he made the switch to Congress for the development of Secunderabad Cantonment constituency. He expressed confidence that the Congress party will succeed in both the Lok Sabha elections and the upcoming by-elections in the constituency. After discussions with party leaders and former MLAs Patnam Mahender Reddy and Mynampally Hanumantha Rao over two days, Ganesh decided to join the Congress. Prior to joining Congress, he had been actively campaigning for BJP and even participated in election events with Eatala Rajender in Malkajigiri.
The sudden change in party allegiance from BJP to Congress has surprised many within the BJP ranks.
