Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at a joint meeting of the US Congress on Thursday, saying that terrorism is a threat to humanity and action must be taken against those who support it. He indirectly referred to Pakistan as a sponsor of terrorism. He stated that despite over two decades since 9/11 and a decade since the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai, terrorism remains a pressing danger for the world. Modi and US President Joe Biden expressed their commitment to fighting terrorism and condemned it in all forms. They called for action against UN-listed terrorist groups including al-Qaeda, ISIS/Daesh, Lashkar e-Tayyiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Hizb-ul-Mujhahideen. They also called for Pakistan to take action against cross-border terrorism and to bring the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai and Pathankot attacks to justice. The Prime Minister’s speech was delivered in English and lasted for 60 minutes.
