The government of the Indian state of Telangana will give 2000 crore rupees to compensate farmers affected by recent hailstorms and rain, according to State Assembly Speaker Pocharm Srinivas Reddy. The government has also offered to pay affected farmers 10,000 rupees per acre. An awareness conference was held in Nizamabad district to give farmers advice on preventing crop damage. The conference featured agricultural scientists who advised farmers on early sowing and good seeds that resist pests and yield crops quickly. The speaker suggested farmers sow their monsoon crop by early June and harvest their yasangi crop by March 15 to avoid damage from untimely rains and hailstorms.
