Ganja smugglers in Hanamkonda are trying to make easy money by coming up with creative ways to transport their products and avoid the police. Recently, a gang was caught trying to transport ganja using tamarind sacks and ended up behind bars. The four accused individuals, identified as Eidara Krishna and Anumula Venkataramana from NTR district of Andhra, were arrested by the Hanmakonda police.
The accused had purchased the ganja from a person named Suresh of Seeleru and were planning to deliver it to a minor from Madhya Pradesh in Hanmakonda. They were caught by the police at the bus stand while acting suspiciously. The police seized 9.5 kg of ganja worth Rs 2.35 lakh from them. Suresh of Seeleru, who supplied the ganja, is currently on the run.
The increasing prevalence of ganja smuggling is becoming a cause for concern. Police checks are regularly uncovering shipments of ganja, and even individuals who have previously been jailed for similar offenses are returning to the trade. In order to protect the youth from the dangers of ganja, it is important for the police to develop a targeted action plan.
