In Hyderabad, the Cyberabad police took action against street racing. They registered nine cases against 91 people for causing trouble at night near T-Hub, Knowledge City, Raidurgam, Serilingampally mandal, Ranga Reddy district. The police seized 89 bikes and two cars that were used in the races.
The Raidurgam police received information on June 1 about youth participating in bike and car racing near the IT Corridor and surrounding areas. The young people were performing stunts and racing on public roads, which posed a risk to public safety. When the police arrived at the scene in the T HUB area, the youth tried to escape but were caught with 50 bikes. A case was registered against all 50 bikers.
All the bikers were required to provide a Rs 1 lakh surety bond before the II-class executive magistrate. If they are caught racing again, they will face a Rs 1 lakh fine. Nine cases have been booked under various sections of the IPC and Motor Vehicle Act. The seized vehicles will be handed over to the RTA for further action.
The police urged parents to monitor their children’s activities, as street racing can lead to accidents and endanger lives. Bike racing is strictly prohibited, and those who violate this rule will face legal consequences, including potential jail time.
