A 35-year-old man named Kulla Viswa was shot and killed by the police during an attempted arrest. Viswa had a criminal record and was considered a dangerous criminal with 24 pending cases against him, including homicides, kidnappings, and extortion targeting scrap industry owners in different police stations.
The police had formed a special team to catch Viswa, but when they tried to arrest him, he attacked them with a knife, injuring two officers. In self-defense, the officers had to use their guns.
Viswa was taken to a government hospital but was pronounced dead. The injured officers, Rajesh and Vasu, are also receiving medical treatment.
The Assistant Director General of Police (ADGP), Arun, visited the injured officers and assured that measures are being taken to prevent criminal activities in the state.
ADGP Arun revealed that Viswa was already under police investigation for a murder. During the encounter, Viswa attacked the officers, causing cuts on their hands. One of the officers had to use his gun to protect them.
ADGP Arun also mentioned that specialized teams have been created to address issues related to dangerous criminals and their impact on scrap dealers. The incident is still being investigated as more details are gathered.
