Hyderabad: Ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election, R.V. Karnan, the District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner, urged political parties to raise any concerns about polling station changes. This follows directions from the Election Commission. In a meeting at the GHMC office, Karnan revealed plans to increase polling stations from 329 to 408, spread across 139 locations, up from 132. The deadline for submitting objections is August 26, as the report must be ready by August 28.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are appointed at the current 329 polling stations, and political parties are encouraged to submit their booth-level agent lists soon. BLOs for the 79 new stations will be appointed shortly. From January 6 to August 15, 19,237 voter registration applications were received, with 3,767 rejected and 16 pending. In Form 6, 1,478 out of 5,426 applications were rejected; Form 7 saw 1,010 rejections out of 3,453; and Form 8 had 1,279 out of 10,358 rejected.
A team of nodal officers has been appointed for the by-election. This team includes Anurag Jayanthi for manpower, Apoorva Chauhan for EVM & VVPAT, and Hemant Keshav Patil for training. Srinivas manages transport, K. Venugopal oversees materials, M. Sudarshan handles MCC, Narasimha Reddy is in charge of law and order, and Venkateswar Reddy monitors expenses. Wilson supervises election observers, while Ravi Kiran deals with dummy ballots. M. Dasharath manages media communication, C. Radha ensures cybersecurity, Karthik Kiran runs the helpline, and Tirumala Kumar handles webcasting.
