Hyderabad: BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar criticized the BJP for ignoring BC candidates in its leadership elections. He questioned why BC leaders weren’t allowed to participate in the nominations for the party’s State unit president.

At a press briefing at Gandhi Bhavan, the Minister accused the BJP of unfair treatment towards BCs, arguing that the party blocked BC leaders from its internal elections. He challenged the party’s commitment to social justice, pointing out that despite having three BC MPs and numerous senior BC leaders, they were overlooked.

The Minister also mentioned past promises where the BJP pledged to appoint a BC leader as Chief Minister but failed to fulfill them. He noted that before the last Assembly elections, the party replaced BC leader Bandi Sanjay with Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, showing a lack of respect for backward classes.
