Hyderabad: The demand for electricity in the state is rising due to increased usage in homes, industries, and agriculture during the Kharif season. Musharaf Faruqui, the Chairman & Managing Director of the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL), has directed rural power officials to ensure a steady and reliable power supply.

Recent heavy rains have improved water availability, boosting Kharif crop cultivation throughout the state. As a result, electricity use has grown by more than 50% compared to last year. In the Southern Discom region, some districts have seen power consumption nearly double.

In the combined Nalgonda district, electricity usage on September 1 last year was 13.6 million units. This year, on the same day, it jumped to 33.82 million units, marking a significant 148% increase.
