    VIJAYAWADA: Water Levels Rising at Prakasam Barrage

    The Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada is experiencing a significant increase in water inflows. This surge is due to the opening of gates at the Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar, and Pulichintala projects.

    With the River Krishna flooding, authorities have taken action. They have lifted 40 gates of the barrage by six feet and another 30 gates by seven feet. This has resulted in the release of 2,74,200 cusecs of water downstream.

    Precautionary Measures for Low-Lying Areas

    Officials are taking precautionary steps to ensure safety. They have warned residents in low-lying areas to stay alert. Currently, the inflow at the barrage is recorded at 2,88,191 cusecs, with 13,991 cusecs being directed into canals.

    Tammileru Reservoir Status

    The Tammileru reservoir in Chintalapudi Mandal’s Nagireddygudem is also facing heavy inflows. The inflow has reached 5,256 cusecs, while the outflow is at 5,688 cusecs. The reservoir’s water level stands at 349.49 feet, close to its full capacity of 355 feet.

    Errakalva Reservoir Update

    In the Eluru district, the Errakalva reservoir in Jangareddygudem Konguvarigudem is seeing a surge in inflows as well. The water level has reached 82.30 meters, nearing its full capacity of 83.50 meters. With an inflow of 6,000 cusecs, authorities have opened four gates, releasing 6,500 cusecs of water downstream.
