President urges nation to uphold spirit of harmony in address on eve of 77th Independence Day

President Droupadi Murmu of India addressed the nation on the eve of the 77th Independence Day. She emphasized that despite their diverse identities, all Indians are equal citizens with equal opportunities, rights, and duties. She urged the people to move forward with harmony and brotherhood.

President Murmu stated that each Indian has multiple identities, but the identity of being a citizen of India is above all others. She emphasized that every citizen has equal opportunities, rights, and duties in the country.

She acknowledged that India is the mother of democracy and had democratic institutions functioning at the grassroots level since ancient times. However, colonial rule wiped out these institutions. On August 15, 1947, India gained independence and the freedom to rewrite its destiny.

The President highlighted that the Constitution is the guiding document of the country, with its Preamble containing the ideals of the freedom struggle. She called for moving forward with harmony and brotherhood to fulfill the dreams of the nation-builders.

President Murmu paid tribute to women freedom fighters who played a vital role in India’s struggle for independence. She acknowledged that women are now contributing extensively in every field of development and service to the country. The President emphasized the importance of economic empowerment for women and urged fellow citizens to prioritize it.

Climate change and global warming were also addressed by President Murmu. She called for urgent attention from scientists and policymakers, stating that the “culture of greed” is taking the world away from nature. India’s presidency at the G-20 summit was highlighted by President Murmu. She mentioned that India can influence decision-making in trade and finance towards equitable progress. Additionally, she expressed confidence in India’s leadership in dealing with global issues and hoped for effective action from member nations.

In conclusion, President Droupadi Murmu’s address focused on equality, harmony, women empowerment, climate change, and India’s role in global affairs.
