Gadwal: The All India Ambedkar Yuvajana Sangham is calling for strict enforcement of the 25% free seat quota in private schools, as required by the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009. District President Macharla Prakash and Gattu Mandal President Balgera Mojesh are leading this demand.
Prakash highlighted that many private schools ignore Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act, which mandates free education for children from low-income families. Instead, these schools charge fees from ₹20,000 to ₹1 lakh.
“Education is a right for every child, not just for those who can afford it,” Prakash stated. He warned of a district-wide protest if schools continue to break the law.
Despite promises from the District Collector to enforce the law this year, no private school has yet complied, according to the organization.
The Sangham is demanding several actions:
– Enforce the 25% free admission quota immediately.
– Ensure admissions are transparent and penalize illegal fee charges.
– Launch campaigns to inform parents about their rights.
– Establish district-level committees to monitor RTE compliance.
This call to action aims to rally officials and the community to protect the educational rights of underprivileged children.
