Puducherry Governor affirms governors’ right to speak on politics
Text Size: 100%

Telangana and Puducherry Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has defended the right of Governors to speak about politics. She believes that Governors, as constitutional functionaries, should have the freedom to express their views. This comes in response to Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai’s statement advising Governors to avoid discussing politics. Annamalai argued that Governors should not make political statements or hold press conferences, as it may interfere with the state’s affairs.

However, Soundararajan disagrees with Annamalai’s perspective. She believes that Governors should not be seen as mere rubber stamps, but rather as active participants in political debates. According to Soundararajan, they have the right to express their opinions on political matters.
