Hyderabad: From August 16 to 31, the Rachakonda SHE Teams caught over 214 people, including 120 minors, for bothering women in public areas. These individuals faced legal actions and were required to attend counseling sessions.
The police explained that SHE Teams secretly patrol places like bus stops, railway and metro stations, schools, and colleges. They work undercover to catch and gather evidence against those who harass women, aiming to use this evidence in court.
Rachakonda Commissioner G Sudheer Babu stated that offenders attended mandatory counseling led by trained counselors and psychologists at the police office in L B Nagar.
DCP of the Women Safety Wing T Usharani noted that they received 228 complaints. Among these, 39 involved phone harassment, 86 were related to social media, and 103 involved direct harassment. Five resulted in criminal charges, 98 were petty cases, and 113 involved counseling.
In a special operation on metro trains, SHE Teams fined 9 men for traveling in the women’s compartment. They also addressed disturbances at the Tukkuguda bus stand, detaining several youths and filing a case against them.
