In a major accomplishment, the Rachakonda Police have successfully recovered 591 lost or stolen mobile phones. These phones are valued at around ₹2 crore and were recovered over the past 25 days. The increasing number of mobile thefts and losses led the police to take innovative steps to track and recover these devices.

To tackle the issue, special teams were set up under the guidance of G. Sudheer Babu, the Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda. These teams included members from the CCS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems) units in LB Nagar, Malkajgiri, and Bhongir, along with the Rachakonda IT Cell. By using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, the teams tracked the stolen phones by uploading the IMEI numbers of the reported lost devices.

The recovered phones were distributed as follows: LB Nagar recovered 339 phones, Malkajgiri recovered 149 phones, and Bhongir recovered 103 phones. With these recoveries, the total number of phones recovered by Rachakonda Police this year has reached 3,213. This makes Rachakonda the second-highest in mobile phone recoveries, following Hyderabad.

In a special ceremony, Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu handed over the recovered phones to their rightful owners. The recipients were overjoyed and expressed their gratitude to the police department for their hard work in reuniting them with their lost devices.
